Antigen-specific immunoglobulin A (IgA) plays a salient role in host defense against mucosal infection. We reported earlier that exopolysaccharide (EPS) produced by probiotic Leuconostoc mesenteroides strain NTM048 can enhance mucosal IgA production in mice.
